Hey Everyone. It's been a crazy past couple of weeks! Let me show you some of what I've been up to lately:
First up is the Oceanside Harbor Days Festival. Here's me with my princesses and my ride over to the mainstage, Pop's Pedicabs.
Miss Teen Oceanside and I also hosted the 2010 Harbor Days Festival. We had so much fun getting to know all of the lovely ladies!
The Oceanside Court.
Miss Teen Oceanside, Demi, and I hosting.
Earlier in the month, I was also a special guest at the Free Diabetes Awareness Event 2010 in Vista. Diabetes runs in my family so it was important for me to be a part of this event that helps educate people with diabetes and their families about this disease. My dad was also a guest speaker.
Councilwoman Esther Sanchez also spoke at the event

with some of the attendees :)
And even earlier this month, I taped a segment for KOCT's Oceanside Spectrum. Look for it all this month on KOCT.

And last but certainly not least was the 3rd Annual Pride @ the Beach Festival, hosted byy the North County LGBT Coalition.
pulling raffle tickets. I think i'm getting pretty good at that by now.
Well that's going to do it for this update. But don't forget, Oceanside's first ever Bike The Coast Festival is coming up next weekend. Head over to our website at www.bike-the-coast.com to register or to learn more about this exciting event. Hope to see you there!
Until next time!

Quick Update!
Hey Everyone!
The past couple of weeks have been crazy busy! An Oceanside Spectrum taping, a Diabetes Awareness Event, training for Bike The Coast (sidenote: check out our promo for KOCT here) and the Oceanside Harbor Days Festival! So much to talk about, but we'll save it for later. In the meantime, please take a moment to check out my ACS: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer page here and, if you are so inclined, make a donation or join my team, Beauties For Boobies!
Can't wait to update you on everything!
xoxo,
Lauryn

Bike The Coast: Road Skills 101 Class
Hey Everyone!
So I spent my Saturday on a bike, on the road, in Oceanside with certified instructors Pete Penseyres and Howard LaGrange. The class was alot easier than I expected. Pete and Howard were so great, and so patient with me. I really enjoyed taking the class, I feel like I am much more knowledgeable about bike safety and bicycle mechanics than I was before. I definitely would recommend the class to anyone who is interested in learning more about biking in general, even if you are a total novice, like me! Thanks to the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition, Jim Curl, Kathy Keehan, Pete and Howard for putting this together for me. I had a blast!

Pete and I going over some bicycle mechanics. KOCT joined us to document our fun!

Gearing up for Bike The Coast!
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to update you on a really cool event that I have the pleasure of being a part of. Bike The Coast is an event sponsored by the City of Oceanside Bicycle Committee, Main Street Oceanside and the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce. The event takes place in Oceanside on November 5th and 6th and will include a bike ride that starts and finishes at the Oceanside Pier along with live music, food, and a whole lot of fun! Hopefully, the ride will get more people in Oceanside on bikes, although we must be doing pretty well already since the League of American Bicyclists has deemed us a 'Bronze Level Bicycling Community'.There are courses for everyone, whether you're an experienced cyclist or a beginner, beach cruiser or BMX biker and all ages are welcome. The proceeds from the ride support the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition and I'm also riding to support the American Cancer Society.
So, I've been training for the past couple weeks and I just completed my online bike education class! Obviously it's a lot easier to learn something out of a textbook than it is to learn by actually doing it, so while I will say that while the online courses weren't too difficult, I am anticipating that the the second part of the course, the actual road skills interactive part, will be considerably more difficult. It's like Driver's Ed vs. Driver Training. And I must say, while I aced Driver's Ed I never even TOOK Driver's Training. The class is on Saturday so wish me luck! And keep checking back on my blog or on my FB page to keep updated on Bike The Coast!
Me with my personal trainer/dad. I owe my sore butt muscles to him.

Hello again! This week was an exciting one! I was presented to the Oceanside City Council, along with the other Oceanside royalty. I even got to say a few words!

Miss Senior California
Hi Everyone! Last weekend I was lucky enough to attend the Miss Senior California pageant. If you're not familiar with this pageant, it's for women ages 60 and over. It was amazing to see these women out there on stage strutting their stuff, you wouldn't know they were seniors!
Until next time!
